Telford & Wrekin Community Regeneration Project contracted Hedz artists to engage and educate a small group of 'NEET' young people. The participants of this creative mural project were invited to work alongside professional artists in the decoration of a 2 previously unsightly subway locations.
The participants were asked to create imagery that depicted the rich cultural and industrial history of Telford. Each young person was given an opportunity to express themselves within a dynamic peer group environment whilst assisting in giving their community locations a much needed 'face lift'.
Local youth services agencies were encouraged to view this project as a positive starting point in building a stronger link between 'hard to reach' young people and local government organisations. Several of the chosen participants have since gone on to progress their personal art studies and explore the viable career options within the creative industries.
