Hedz creative tutors were once again called upon to help the local young people in Northampton renovate an important community facility. Daintree Skate Park was experiencing a large amount of anti-social behaviour including racist and crude graffiti vandalism.
Hedz were contracted to gather local young people together and unite them in one creative cause. The participants were given an opportunity to work alongside our professional tutors to clean, design, and paint Daintree' skate ramp structures.
The purpose of this programme was to encourage the young people of Daintree to treat all public facilities with the care, respect, and attention they would if they belonged to them. Our tutors found that exploring the application of high quality graffiti art also helped the participants to better understand the importance of not becoming involved in illegal vandalism.
The finished artwork was welcomed by a diverse cross section of the local community, and Daintree Police officers have reported a significant drop in local vandalism.
