Since 2001, we have risen to become the Midland’s leading art workshop provider. We have given thousands of young people and adults access to the contemporary arts in a safe, creative, and inspirational workshop environment. We have an extensive level of experience actively interacting with young people and adults of all social and domestic backgrounds.
We pride ourselves on the highest standards of facilitation, from the quality of our tutorial staff, to the goals and objectives we achieve, during our time with the participants of our programmes. The workshops we provide are flexible in terms of duration and attendance structure, allowing us to maximise our opportunities of working with clients of all types.
Our organisation has a strong focus on challenging social issues within our communities’ youth culture, using our unique art-based delivery techniques. Our on-going work with organisations such as West Midlands Police, National Youth Services and The Youth Offending Programme highlights our strong agenda towards making positive changes within our communities.
Hedz youth engagement workshops focus on promoting a sense of ownership to all participants, and allow young people to understand the skills of creation as a viable career option. A comprehensive accreditation scheme is provided to give the participants a clear set of goals and objectives within each activity, and to reward and encourage them for completing each stage.
We can deliver the workshops at the location of your choice (subject to risk assessment), at any time of the year. We can provide the following workshops as individual services, or as part of a more comprehensive timetable of activities. Please scroll down below the galleries for information on specific workshop types (Aerosol Art, Breakdance, Dj, Music Production, MCing, Clothing Customisation).

AEROSOL ART:
We provide a template for young people to collectively contribute to the creation of a mural. This can be painted in a permanent position, or on a moveable medium, for later display or storage. The art is available to keep which helps to promote and encourage a sense of ownership within the community. We can also incorporate sketch workshops as a pre-cursor to the main activity, or as part of an ongoing programme.
CREATIVE DRAWING:
Participants are engaged in the creative art of hand illustration. Each participant is provided with a valuable insight into how they can realise their conceptual ideas in hand created imagery. Attendees are shown the importance of proportion, perspective, and light source sympathy drawing skills. Our tutors encourage all participants to discuss the developments within their drawings with peer group members. This workshop is very effective in attaining a clear platform for group consultation, and provides an excellent opportunity for its participants to explore their own creative thought process.
BREAKDANCE:
Young people are given access to professional dance tutors and engaged in a confidence-building workshop in contemporary dance skills. Participants are taught the foundations of various styles, which allows them to develop during their own time, and also imparts them knowledge about the eclectic nature of dance.
DJ:
Professional DJs engage young people in a workshop that will assist the participants in developing their music performance skills. Rudimentary theories of music can be communicated through such activities as beat-mixing and scratching, allowing application to other musical avenues.
MC:
Focus is given to the composition of lyrics, as well as to the less tangible nature of the performance, vocal control and delivery. This can be easily combined with a music production workshop to create a finished piece of music.
MUSIC PRODUCTION:
A diverse workshop that promotes a sense of group engagement. Professional music production suites are utilised to help young people create a bespoke piece of music. All finished music is available to keep to help participants gain a clear sense of ownership.
CLOTHING CUSTOMISATION:
An opportunity for young people to be engaged in the industry skills of clothing customisation, whilst being allowed the freedom to express their own creative ideas. Our team will work through several production techniques to assist the participants in completing a bespoke item which can be taken away and worn.
