This 12 page magazine was designed for the Adoption Support agency. The visual artwork and layout was conceived with the help of several young adoptees. A workshop was conducted with the main focus on the use of colours, images and semiotics as communication tools.
The aim of the magazine was to educate both adoptees and non-adoptees about adoption and the culture surrounding it, and also to dispell some of the myths which the young people had found to be common with the subject of adoption. There was also a focus on encouraging young people of all backgrounds to pick up and read the magazine - this was achieved by using highly attractive characters on the front cover, and using The Incredibles (which had just been released) as a theme - hence the title - The Adoptables.
The result of the workshop was the identification of various styles of colour, font and symbols, which could help to communicate the mood and emotion of the varying topics throughout the publication. The final design was prepared to reflect this, and so show a clear difference in design style between different articles and topics.
